Sapphire Crown a first up Werribee winner

May 07, 2020

Colin sent two 3yo's to Werribee for their first start. 3yo Hallowed Crown gelding, Sapphire Crown, was purchased with the idea of selling to Hong Kong but after no interest, he made his way to the track and a perfect start to his career. Racing keenly during the run, and being badly checked when a horse crossed over too sharply, experienced jockey Brett Prebble was able to keep him together and harness his raw ability to get the best out of him in a time just .02secs slower than the 78 handicap run later in the day.  A very promising start and with more experience let's hope he can go on to grab a midweek or city win this prep if Colin can find the right race.

The other Lord Lodge runner Sublime Diva, a daughter of the Champion mare Maybe Diva, was well back for most of the race but made ground to the line finding the 1105m far too short. She should be more competitive when the races get over 1400 or further.
