Promising Vegas Knight shows his class

Oct 14, 2020

Vegas Knight showed the field a clean pair of heels in winning over 2000m at Caulfield today. Starting well from barrier one, jockey Jordy Childs let him stride to the front rating him perfectly, at times leading by 10 lengths, then taking a breather and allowing the field to get within 2l on the turn before unleashing a strong finish to win by 3.5l the time being 1sec faster than the Group 3 Coongy Cup run and won earlier to make it a double for Jordy Childs

Colin has always had a high opinion of Vegas Knight and finally he showed what he can do if left in front. He won his first race in similar fashion so seems to appreciate racing that way. Colin has been trying to teach him to relax in his races but the horse just pulls and fights the rider so maybe, with his great aerobic ability, let him freewheel in front and let them chase him down. Congratulations to his connections and let's hope he can win a good city race over the spring carnival.
