Predominator Dominates At Ballarat

Dec 29, 2009

Trainer Colin Little was given an early Christmas present on Christmas Eve when Predominator, a recent acquisition to Lord Lodge, won the Tanya Daniels The Good Guys 0-68 (1200m) at Ballarat in exciting fashion.

Predominator ($3.50fav) jumped well but was immediately eased to the tail of the field tracking wide into the home straight before ducking back to the inside for a run and finishing over the top of Sandusky City ($9) who looked odds on to win 100m out, with Modelago ($10) third a length away.

Little was pleased with the win in a race he thought would be too short on paper.

"The race looked a bit short on paper," said Little.

"Especially as our plan was to teach him to settle." he added.

The win was highlighted by an impressive finishing burst shown by Predominator who was still three lengths away well inside the 200m marker.

"He is quite timid but came through them alright."

The four-year-old gelding is a new member of the Lord Lodge team coming down from Queensland at the end of his last preparation.

"He has been sent down from Queensland for the better prizemoney," said Little.

"Since arriving about four months ago he has done really well."

"I'm sure he will go on and improve a bit on that run," Little added.

There are a number of restricted options available at this time of year and Little is not ruling out a city run for the gelding.

"Something around the 1400m mark and restricted to 72 class would be nice, even if it is in the city," he said.
