Great return by Forty Two Below.
Jun 19, 2011
Lightly raced but most promising gelding Forty Two Below resumed with a comprehensive win at Bendigo this afternoon.
The son of Bel Esprit was having his first start back in just over 14 months and under the guidance of champion rider Damien Oliver, Forty Two Below was too strong for his rivals on the line.
Jumping away from the gates beautifully, Forty Two Below was always in control of the race sitting right on the speed and although the second placegetter, He's A Hotty made a race of it, Forty Two Below's class prevailed on the line.
It once again shows what a patient and first class trainer Colin Little is as Forty Two Below has given Little many problems over the years but with great perseverance the gelding was able to show what raw talent he possesses.
Congratulations must go to the winning owners of Forty Two Below which include Debbie Brereton, wife of top jockey Dan Brereton and Jason Swift, grandson of legendary jockey, Scobie Breasley.
Now a five year old Forty Two Below has only raced on six occasions for three wins and if Little can hold him together I'm sure there are plenty of more wins in store.
