Almost a perfect day at Geelong
Jun 13, 2014
Lord Lodge had 2 runners today at Geelong on the synthetic track and almost made it a double.
First time runner Unalaska was gallant in defeat after settling outside the leader until the top of the straight, fighting to hit the lead then going head to head with the eventual winner to go down by a just a neck. He showed great determination and a win looks just around the corner with the experience from his first outing.
Second runner was Sir Fernando who was carrying the equal top weight of 61kg. After getting away awkwardly he settled near the tail of the field until the turn where he went wide and motored home from last to first for an outstanding win by more than a length going away. Both horses were well ridden by Daniel Stackhouse. Congratulations to all owners.
