Millau becomes first winner for his sire Nom du Jeu
Mar 02, 2015
Lord Lodge runner, Millau, has become the first ever winner for his sire Nom du Jeu. He was Colin's top pick from the 2013 Karaka sales and Colin has shown his usual patience allowing him to take his time to develop and overcome his earlier problems before getting him to the races. After running 9th at his two previous runs he headed to sale for his third start over 1400m, a more appropriate distance considering his breeding, and with blinkers on for the first time. As it had rained quite heavily overnight, the track was rated a slow 5, probably another plus as his dam Recollection is by Zabeel, noted for their liking for wet tracks. Starting from barrier one, he bounced out, went to the lead and stayed there. He looked to be travelling well leading the field by a length for most of the trip before being challenged 300 metres out and possibly headed, before his jockey Daniel Moor got the best out of him and he beat off the runner up to win by 1/2 length. It was a strong win and hopefully one of many more for his patient owners.
Another Lord Lodge runner Unalaska ran his usual honest race, running second at Benalla, his time will come soon, making it a succesful day for the stable.
